The Red horsechestnut (Aesculusxcarnea‘Ft. McNair’)is a medium-sized deciduous shade tree with a rounded crown. It’s palm-shaped leaves are light green in the spring, become gradually darker green in the summer, and turn yellow in fall. In mid-spring the tree has beautiful clusters of pink-reddish flowers with yellow throats attracting hummingbirds and bees. The tree generally likes a sunny location.
